Hue to go
This morning I arrived in Hue (pronounced like "way," but with a bit of h at the beginning), after a tiring 12-hour overnight train ride. Hue is about midway between Hanoi in the north and Saigon in the south of Vietnam.
For the last couple days, I've felt a little traveled-out, so I'm hoping the change of scenery will help. More later, after I've had a chance to poke around a bit.
If you're traveled-out, wouldn't a change of scenery just make things worse?

glad vietnam has continues to be a lot of fun! My friend Kristin (who sat at the same table as you at the wedding) went to Hue and really liked it - hope you do too! We're back from Salt Lake City ski trip for a week and then heading out to Africa a week from today... look forward to having similar experiences!

You raise a valid question, but there is a method to my madness. I think the reason I was feeling traveled out was because I had been in Hanoi long enough to be bored with sightseeing, but not long enough to feel "at home" (which would take months or years, I imagine). When traveled-out, ideally I'd like to sit on my couch, pet my cats, drink a glass of wine, go to sleep in my own bed, etc. But since that's not an option right now, my theory is that a change of scenery can offer new and exciting things to see & do that can reinvigorate one's excitement about traveling. You follow?
